About | Nicola Mason

Having grown up in The Pony Club, Nicola has always had an unwavering passion for horses. She began her professional career in 2008 as a working pupil for Olympic Rider Caroline Powell. She then went on to spend five years riding for the late 5* Event Rider Matthew Wright, gaining invaluable experience including grooming at Burghley Horse Trials.

In 2013, she broadened her horizons further by travelling to Germany with her top horse Foreign Encounter to spend a winter training with German Olympian Dirk Schrade.

These formative years provided a strong foundation for Nicola to establish her own business in 2015 as a professional Event Rider. She has since campaigned several successful seasons at CCI4*-L with her home-produced gelding Foreign Encounter including; Bramham, Blenheim, Hartpury, and internationally at Boekelo.

Nicola has built a loyal team of supportive owners and continues to enjoy success at both BE and FEI levels with a talented string of horses progressing through the grades. In the winter months, Nicola also enjoys field mastering for the Middleton Hunt which provides excellent exposure for the younger horses.

Nicola has dedicated her career to learning every aspect of producing and managing event horses. She is committed to continual improvement, training regularly with world-class coaches such as Christopher Bartle, Ian Woodhead and Nicola Wilson, and takes as much pride in developing young horses as she does in competing at the upper levels of the sport.

Driven, dedicated, and passionate about every stage of the process, Nicola combines years of top-level experience with a kind approach to produce confident, capable, and successful event horses; while striving for excellence in every aspect of the sport.
